The Georgian authorities have released the Turkish ship "Aydar",
detained on March 20, a source in the Abkhaz Shipping Company reported
on Monday.
As previously reported by "Vestnik Kavkaza" the "Aydar" ship, on its
way from Abkhazia to the Turkish port of Trabzon, was detained in the
neutral waters of the Black Sea. The cargo ship was escorted to the
Georgian port of Poti.
The president of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab, called the detention of
the ship an act of "piracy" on Friday. The Abkhazian Foreign Minister,
for his part, said that he regarded the detention of the vessel by the
Coast Guard of Georgia in international waters as "an act of
piracy and maritime terrorism."
