The chief of the State Property Protection department of the Interior Ministry, Vladimir Savichev, after the explosion at the Baskan Hydroelectric Plant, has ordered the introduction of emergency measures in three days to protect vital facilities in the republic, reports RIA-Novosti referring to the police press-service.
According to police data, on the night of 21th July about six armed men penetrated the hydroelectric plant, killed two policemen, beat up two of the station's personnel and planted five handmade explosive devices. The explosions and subsequent fire damaged three generators and other material property of the hydroelectric plant.
The emergency measures are due to be introduced on all energy-producing enterprises, airports, railway stations and other vital objects, says the communique of the Department. It also states that, despite multiple warnings to the hydroelectric plant's senior staff from the authorities, no security measures were taken.
The same source informs that the funds for these emergency measures have already been allocated.
