Chinese tanker spotted at Iranian coast

Tanker Yuan Yang Hu of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co., China’s largest shipping company, was spotted at the dock of the Kharg Island of Iran.

This has been the first time the Chinese tanker capable of carrying up to 2 million barrels of oil was spotted there since passing of anti-Iranian sanctions by the EU in July 2012.

The tanker has already left the area.

The EU banned purchases, financing and insurance of Iranian oil on July 1, 2012. The US had passed similar sanctions earlier. The norms had impact on 95% of world tankers, because most of them were insured according to European norms.
