Syrian opposition leader resigns

 

Moaz al-Khatib, leader of the National Opposition and Revolutionary Forces of Syria, has concluded his six-month mandate, RIA Novosti cites Victoria Nuland, spokeswoman of the US State Department.

Al-Khatib announced his resignation plans on Facebook on March 24. He explained that he wanted to operate with more freedom than the organization may offer.

The official was elected as the Syrian opposition leader on November 12 with a six-month mandate.
