Kazakhstan isn't going to join TAPI - minister

Media reports concerning Kazakhstan joining the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project are premature, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov told journalist today during the 11th meeting of foreign ministers of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue conference held in Dushanbe.

"During my recent visit to India where the project was discussed, some media outlets disseminated the information that Kazakhstan is ready to join the TAPI project and will lay the pipeline from India to Kazakhstan," he is quoted as saying by the Trend news agency. "This is incorrect," the minister said.

He also said that the parties had indeed discussed the importance of developing new forms of cooperation during the meetings in India.
