Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has decided to slow down the Iranian nuclear program for the presidential polls of June, Wall Street Journal reports.
Khamenei plans to replace President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and avoid the disorders of 2009.
Alan Eyre, spokesman of the US State Department, said that US President Barack Obama had been willing to have talks with Iran within the framework of the 5+1 format or bilaterally. He noted that the states need to demonstrate goodwill and serious approach to discussions.
Eyre added that the US was not attempting to violate independence and sovereignty of Iran and wanted a diplomatic solution of the conflict.
