UN approves arms trade treaty

The General Assembly of the United Nations Organization has approved the first ever arms trade treaty, RIA Novosti reports.

The agreement was not approved by the UN conference last week, as Iran, Syria and North Korea refused to support the document.

Decisions at the General Assembly are being made by the simple majority of votes so the opposition of the three countries has not prevent the document being adopted.
