Iranian nuclear talks end with no agreement reached

The talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (the USA, the UK, Russia, China, France and Germany) ended today in the Kazakh city of Almaty. No agreement was reached during this round of the negotiations.

The parties discussed the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear programme, which is believed to have a military undertone, even though Iran says the project is entirely peaceful.

Russian deputy foreign minister Sergey Ryabkov says that, despite the fact that no agreement was signed, the fact that the talks took place is a good thing. These talks were a step towards a peaceful solution to the crisis, the official believes.
