Iranian plane en route to Syria inspected in Iraq

Iraqi authorities forced a Syrian-bound plane from Iran to land in Iraq for
inspection. No prohibited cargo was found on board the plane,
RIA-Novosti reports.

The plane was carrying medical equipment.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called on the Iraqi
authorities to strengthen control over aircraft travelling from Iran to
Syria through Iraqi territory. The U.S. government believes that Iran
is helping Bashar al-Assad in his fight against the opposition.
