Georgian lawmakers today commemorated the victims of 9th April 1989. The ruling Georgian Dream coalition and the opposition United National Movement took part in the event.
On 9th April 1989 the forces of the Soviet ministry of defense broke up a peaceful rally held in front of the parliament building. 21 people died and several thousand were poisoned by gas during the incident.
