Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is having a closed-door meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Zhantoro Satybaldiyev. He laid flowers at the Victory Square and was greeted by Bishkek Mayor Isa Omurkulov, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.
The sides signed a protocol on amendments to the agreement on air communication signed in 1994, a governmental deal on tourism cooperation, a memorandum of understanding of the Kyrgyz Ministry for Economy and the Turkish Agency for Investments, an governmental deal on cooperation in forest industry.
Erdogan wants to help the US in leasing the Manas Airport for transit. The current lease expires after 2014. Thus, Turkey is a mediator of Washington and Bishkek.
The Kyrgyz-Turkish forum will start at 12.00 pm. Erdogan will meet Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev at the Ala Archa Residence at the second session of the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
