Russian units stationed in Abkhazia started anti-terrorism exercises on Thursday. The manoeuvres will take place in mountains and forests and on the coast, the Russian Defense Ministry says.
"During the exercise, the participants must locate and destroy a conventional terrorist group, which landed on the coast of the Black Sea and is moving inland," RIA Novosti reports.
The Special Forces will practice organizing and conducting ambushes, raids on fire raiding and databases of members of illegal armed groups. The exercise, which will last until the end of the week, will involve up to 100 troops, military equipment and special weapons - sniper rifles, machine guns and other weapons.
