Georgia's Prosecutor General to study legal side of 2008 war

 

Prosecutor's Office of Georgia is establishing a special commission on the legal study of the war in Georgia in 2008. This was told on Thursday by the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili.

According to him, the commission will examine the legal issues of war.

"We will determine whether there were actions that fall under war crimes during the war," the chief prosecutor said.

If necessary, everyone regardless position will be questioned, Kbilashvili said.

He did not say whether the interrogation of Georgian President Mikheail Saakashvili will take place, although, the prosecutor has previously made statements on that.

The chief prosecutor also noted that, according to his information, the Parliament will also set up an investigation committee, which will give a political assessment of the war in Georgia.
