Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said that US ex-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had warned him against starting a war with Russia, ITAR-TASS reports.
Saakashvili described a conversation with US President George Bush in August 2008. The Georgian leader noted in the conversation that the USSR collapsed during the reign of George H.W. Bush and expressed fear to George W. Bush that the USSR could have been restored if the Russian troops had entered Tbilisi. The US president sent a fleet to Georgia after the talks.
Saakashvili added that the US had been studying the repercussions of bombing the Roki Tunnel Russian forces used to enter Georgia.
