Turkmenistan nominates candidates for parliamentary elections

 

The process of nominating candidates for parliamentary elections began in Turkmenistan on April 18, the Turkmen Central Commission for Elections and Referendums said today, Trend reports. 

According to the decision of the Turkmen Parliament, the Mejlis, the elections are scheduled for June 2. The socio-political campaign will be held in  constituencies No 7 in Ashgabat, No 25 in the Akhal region, No 83 and No 89 in the Lebap region and No 103 in the Mary region. 

According to the Central Electoral Commission, the precinct electoral commissions will work on that day from 7:00 to 19:00. The samples of necessary  documents for the nomination of candidates were approved at a recent meeting of the CEC. 

The term of an MP is five years. 

According to the constitution of the country, members of the fourth convocation are completing their work this year. 

According to the Turkmen constitution, parliament passes laws, makes changes and additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, examines the state  budget for approval and addresses questions on holding referendums.
