After today's decision of the parliament of Dagestan to abandon direct elections for the head of the republic, the next republic to consider this issue will be Ingushetia. The meeting of the Ingush parliament to consider this question is scheduled for April 26.
Commenting for VK on the fate of the elections in Ingushetia, the head of the republic Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said that the law that allows a region to choose whether to elect its head directly was passed by the State Duma and "it is necessary to respond to such laws."
"Both options are democratic. Direct elections and elections through parliament are a democratic way of expression, as the parliament is elected by the people. Therefore, in our case we will decide on which way to choose - either directly or through the parliament. We still have not chosen it," the head of Ingushetia said.
