Russia welcomes Iran's readiness to exchange fuel

Moscow welcomes the intention of Tehran to have technical negotiations on transporting uranium enriched up to 20% for Tehran's science research reactor, the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Foreign Ministry said, RIA Novosti reports.


Tehran sent a letter to the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, on July 26th, agreeing to hold meetings with experts to discuss the fuel issue. The letter also expressed the importance of inviting Brazil and Turkey, which signed a trilateral declaration with Iran on May 17th.


Turkey and Brazil signed the agreement to exchange Iranian fuel on Turkish territory. According to the document, Iran is to provide 1.2 tons of low enriched fuel (3.5%) for 120 kg of nuclear fuel enriched to 20%.
