Latvian president visits Azerbaijan

 

Latvian President Andris Berzins has arrived in Baku and was welcomed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the airport today, Apollo reports.

Berzins will meet Azerbaijani authorities and discuss political and economic cooperation, science and cultural collaboration. He will lay flowers to the grave of Azerbaijani ex-President Heydar Aliyev and commemorate victims of January 1990.

The Latvian president will meet Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Speaker of Parliament Ogtay Asafov, attend an Azerbaijani business forum.

Berzins will visit the technological park in Sumgayit on Thursday and meet Transportation Minister Ziya Mamedov.

The Latvian delegation includes Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevics, Minister for Transportation Andrijs Matiss, Minister for Healthcare Ingrida Circene, Minister for Agriculture Laimdota Straujuma, states ministers, heads of higher education centers and 74 businessmen.
