Caspian states compare maps

The special work group for development of the Caspian convention compared maps of the sea at the 32nd session concluded in Tehran yesterday. Deputy foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan attending the meeting made new proposals and announced compromise formulas on some points of the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

The sides noted progress achieved at the meeting and thanked Iran for successful organization of the session. The deputy ministers emphasized the need to accomplish goals set at the third Caspian summit held in Baku in 2010.

The 33rd session of the work group will be held in Baku in about a month. No clear date has been set yet.
