Azerbaijan calls on Armenia to withdraw its troops from occupied territories

Armenia should immediately withdraw its troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, if the position of the Armenian authorities really corresponds with the position of the OSCE Minsk Group, as the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian claimed at a meeting with Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elman Abdullayev, said today.

"The call for the withdrawal of troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was reflected in the corresponding resolutions of the OSCE from 1993," the Azerbaijani diplomat said.


Abdullayev said that Yerevan should also remember that the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the OSCE have repeatedly confirmed in their statements that maintaining the status quo in the region would be unacceptable.
