Russia and EU draft visa agreement

Russia and the European Union have prepared a preliminary agreement on their visa regime, Russia's special envoy Anvar Azimov is quoted as saying by Ekho Moskvy.

The agreement may be signed at the Russian-EU summit in June.

The previous version of the agreement was rejected by the EU, as Russia reportedly demanded a visa-free regime for officials, an idea that was not supported by the European authorities.

The new agreement will probably ease visa regulations for certain groups of Russian citizens, such as sportsmen, artists, researchers and so on.
