Spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev said at the Southern Energy Corridor conference at the research center of the Brookings Institution that enforcement of security and stability in South Caucasus had been the main problem of Azerbaijan since becoming an independent state.
He noted that construction of the Trans-Anatolia Pipeline (TANAP) was the key component of the Southern Corridor, realized by Azerbaijan and Turkey. The official emphasized successful realization of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars.
Abdullayev said that all states of the region were welcome to participate, while Armenia lost its chance by occupying Azerbaijani territories.
He called Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey a strategic unuion. The Trabzon Declaration allows them to cooperate in politics, economy, agriculture.
