Turkish PM asks Japan to withdraw 2020 Olympic bid

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asked his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe to withdraw Japan's 2020 Olympic bid.

"After the agreement on the Sinop atomic power plant was signed, I asked the Japanese prime minister to withdraw Japan's 2020 Olympic bid. I hope the corresponding order will be given," Erdogan is quoted as saying by Trend news agency.

The Turkish prime minister also noted that Japan has already hosted the Olympic Games, so it would be better to allow Turkey to host the summer Olympics in 2020.
