Iran will be registering candidates for president at 8.00 am – 4.00 pm on May 7-11. They can use the electronic system to register for the first time. The Council of Guardians of the Iranian Constitution will study each candidate on May 12-16.
The list of candidates will be announced on May 22-23. Campaigning will start on May 24 and end on June 12.
Iran will have the 11th presidential polls on June 14, 2013. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cannot run for re-election for his third term, according to the Constitution. Each president has a 4-year term.
