Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najar said today that 75 people had filed applications to run for president on the first day of registration. They include only 5 politicians: Sadeq Vayez Zade, Hasan Rouhani, Mustafa Kavakebian, Mohammad Sayedikiya and Kymran Bageri Lenkorani.
The applications were sent to the Council of Guardians and their registry will be concluded on May 12-16.
The names of candidates for president will be announced on May 22-23 and their campaigns will start the day after.
