Sergeant Zviad Davitadze, Corporals Alexander Kvitsinadze and Vladimir Shanava killed in Afghanistan on May 13 have received the 1st-rank Orders of Vakhtang Gorgasali. Their bodies will arrive in Georgia in 24 hours.
The Order of Saint Georgy was given to Colonel Koba Akhvlediani, deputy commander of the Georgian troops in Afghanistan. The colonel showed courage and patriotism.
Akhvlediani was awarded with the 1st-rank Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali, Medal of Courage, 3rd-rank Medal for Perfect Service, medals of General Gvinitadze, General Mazniashvili, Self-Sacrifice for Motherland, two Orders of Honour earlier. He has been serving in the Georgian Armed Forces since 2005.
