Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has responded to criticism against the parliament that voted for scrapping direct elections on May 8 and deciding to give legislators the right to choose the republic’s leader, RIA Novosti reports.
Yevkurov said that he wanted direct elections, even though the parliament had a contrary idea. He added that he had read comments of “Russian patriots” Ryzhkov and Kasyanov and was convinced that the parliament had made the right choice.
The Ingush leader recommended opposition to mind its own business and not interfere the republic's home affairs.
