Public Television launched in Russia

The Russian Public Television was launched today, RIA Novosti reports.

The TV channel will be available for free. Its broadcasts can also be watched on-line.

The idea of a public television company was sponsored by then-president Dmitry Medvedev and criticized by the Russian opposition as useless in a situation of massive media freedom abuse.
