Residents of the Chechen Republic should take measures to prevent fire and health risks with temperatures due to reach 40 C on Friday, an emergency official told RIA Novosti.
Timur Taysumov said the heat was expected to cause car accidents as the asphalt deformed in the heat, as well as an increase in cardiovascular diseases and bird deaths. There is also an increased risk of forest fires, he noted.
