Azerbaijan has no problems with Russia

Azerbaijan has no problems in relations with Russia, Azerbaijani Foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov says. The two states have 182 bilateral documents signed and 39 planned for signing, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.

Mammadyarov said that expiration of the Qabala Radar lease and oil transfers through the Novorossiysk pipeline was of economic nature.

The Azerbaijani minister noted that the OSCE followed dual standards when evaluating the state of affairs in South Caucasus, where scrupulousness in monitoring elections differs from country to country.

Mammadyarov wants efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to be tripled. He reminded that, according to the Madrid Principles, Azerbaijan was to have 7 districts in Nagorno-Karabakh returned in exchange for security guarantees. It would allow refugees to return to the territory, communications and social facilities to be restored.

Mammadyarov called the situation absurd because not a single country in the world, including Armenia, recognized independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. Idleness aggravates the situation.

The foreign minister said that Azerbaijan will not allow the US to build a naval base on its territory in the Caspian Sea.

Commenting on relations with Iran, Mammadyarov said that they had no controversies, except some comments about his visit to Israel.
