Russian consul general in Simferopol resigns

The Russian Consul General in Simferopol, Vladimir Andreyev, has resigned after notorious remarks he made about Crimean Tatars. The official recently said that the Crimean Tatars cooperated with Nazi Germany during the World War II. The Russian Foreign Ministry, in response to protests from the Crimean Tatar community, has condemned the consul's statement as inappropriate.The consul says that he doesn't agree with his critics, but has decided to resign anyway.
