US would be pleased to see Trans-Caspian gas pipeline implemented

The United States would be pleased to see the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project implemented, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told reporters on Friday, Trend informs.

However, the ambassador said that his country is interested in a trilateral agreement between the EU, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Morningstar also noted that it is up to Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to make a decision on whether the two countries can reach an agreement with the EU.

"If Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan agree with the EU to build the pipeline, they can do so, because the pipeline will go via either Turkmen waters or Azerbaijani territorial waters," he is quoted as saying by Trend.
