The president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has approved the statute of state service of sea and river transport and the structure of its central administrative office, Trend reports.
Like Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Iran, Turkmenistan has access to the Caspian Sea. Its territory has many rivers, the largest of which is Amu-Darya.
The new structure will be based on the former administration of the sea routes of Turkmenistan. The document says that reforms were introduced to meet the modern standards of sea trade fleet and improve state control over vessels in the waters of Turkmenistan.
The new state service will have the power to establish the administration of the sea trade fleet of Turkmenistan. Together with the Ministry of Justice it will prepare and present to the Cabinet the amendments to the law within a month.
