Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed the list of regions for priority settlement introduced by the Ministry for Regional Development. According to the document, compatriots willing to move to Russia are welcome to Buryatia, Transbaikal, Kamchatka, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, Amur, Irkutsk, Magadan, Sakhalin Regions and the Jewish Autonomous Region. All of the territories are of strategic importance.
Others regions willing to be put on the list need to be part of the Far East, have border with foreign state, population decreasing for past three years and national economic and investment projects.
Families willing to settle on the said territories will receive social support. The document will be implemented on January 1, 2014.
Vitaly Yakovlev, head of the department for work with compatriots of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies, clarified that settlers at priority territories will receive more financing.
People settling in the Far East and Transbaikal will receive 240,000 rubles and additional 120,000 per family member. The payments will be made after 1.5 years of residence. Payments in other territories will total 20,00 and 10,000 rubles respectively.
