German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Germany will not send weapons to the revolution-struck Syria, regardless of other countries’ attitude towards the embargo.
Merkel expressed hope that the international conference on Syria will help find a solution to the crisis.
EU states failed to reach a consensus on further fate of the embargo. The embargo on sales of weapons to Syria expires on June 1. The UK was the first state to announce that it will not send weapons to Syria.
