Armenia does not agree with certain elements of the updated Madrid principles, Russian OSCE Minsk Group co-chair Yuri Merzlyakov has said, Armenia Today reports.
He said that the proposals were the last to be made by the current co-chairs.
“However, we are not overdramatizing the situation,” he said. “A couple of years ago we noted the same situation with regard to the Madrid principles accepted by Armenia – but as it turns out not entirely.”
He also said this would be his last visit to the region as co-chair.
French co-chair Bernard Fassier said the Madrid principles were still being discussed and that ongoing talks were cause for optimism.
“War cannot be the solution to the conflict,” he said.
