Nino Burjanadze, leader of the Democratic Movement of Georgia called for direct negotiations with Russia in Tbilisi yesterday. She expressed surprise that no such talks had been started 7-8 months ago.
She noted that the West was recognizing Georgia’s territorial integrity formally and had been offering integration in the NATO for 30 years, yet nothing had been achieved. Burjanadze wants Georgia to have balanced relations with all neighbours.
