New mayor of Makhachkala to be appointed after Amirov trial

The new mayor of Makhachkala will be appointed after Said Amirov's trial is over, the head of the republic says.

Ramazan Abdulatipov, the acting head of Dagestan, made his first comment on Amirov's case today, while speaking to Dagestani state television.

Abdulatipov also said that Dagestan was undergoing serious changes.

Said Amirov, who has been the mayor of Makhachkala since 1998, has been arrested recently on charges of murder
