NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen confirmed readiness to grant Georgia membership in the alliance at the NATO-Georgia Commission, ITAR-TASS reports.
He expressed condolences over the Georgian soldiers killed in the ISAF mission of Afghanistan. Rasmussen noted that 22 NATO members were participating in the operation and Georgia had the highest number of troops involved.
1,500 Georgian soldiers serve in Afghanistan. 22 Georgian soldiers have been killed and over 100 injured in the operation.
