TToday in Volgograd the main activities of the inter-regional forum "Russia-Azerbaijan: inter-regional dialogue in 2013" took place. The participants in the forum included about 200 representatives of central and regional government bodies, large, medium-sized and small businesses, Russian and Azerbaijani non-governmental organizations. Among the participants were the editor-in-chief of "Vestnik Kavkaza", Alexei Vlasov, and its CEO, Ismail Agakishiyev.
The head of the Presidential department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Vladimir Chernov, greeted the participants on behalf of President Vladimir Putin.
Among the speakers were the governor of the Volgograd Region, Sergei Bozhenov, the head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov, the deputy governor of Astrakhan region, Konstantin Markelov, the deputy chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, Abusupyan Harharov, deputy chairman of the Committee of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on economic integration of the SCO and CIS, Boris Shepherds, and others.
The head of the delegation of the Russian Chamber of Commerce served as the moderator at the round table "Economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan: Opportunities and Prospects." The Volgograd Chamber of Commerce made significant efforts to invite representatives of businesses interested in the development of cooperation with partners from Azerbaijan.
Also, the current state and prospects of regional cooperation, cooperation in the energy and transport communications sectors, the role of the two countries in ensuring stability in the Caspian region and the humanitarian aspects of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan were discussed. The conference's participants unanimously called for such an event to be held annually, and discussed the final statement.
Of particular interest to the participants in the conference was the inter-regional exhibition "New horizons of economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan."
"The exhibition is organized very well and will undoubtedly contribute to the strengthening of economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan. These business contacts have a long history, and now they have to develop a regional component. The Volgograd region, according to the exhibition, has everything going for it," the head of the Presidential Department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Vladimir Chernov, stated.
Among the more than 40 producers displaying their products were: "Volgogradneftemash", "VZBT", "Tsaritsynskaya Combined Manufacturing", "Volzhsky Abrasive Works," "Kamyshinsky Textiles", "Pivovar," "Confit", "Gardens of the Don Region" and others.
