Hassan Rouhani leads in Iranian presidential vote

Iranian moderate presidential candidate Hassan Rouhani leads in the Iranian presidential elections, as some 6.5 million votes have already been counted. Rouhani leads with about 50 per cent of the votes.

Rouhani previously served as the secretary of the Supreme Council for National Defense and as the country's chief nuclear negotiator.

Tehran mayor Mohammadbaker Kalibaf is second so far, third is Saeed Jalili.

Around 70 percent of the 50 million Iranians eligible to vote went to polling station yesterday, the Euronews Tv channel reports.
