Israel wants trial of Iranian president

By Peter Lyukimson, exclusively for Vestnik Kavkaza

Israeli President Shimon Peres said that history would never forgive Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad what he had done with the country. Peres accused the Iranian leader of wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on the nuclear program, destroying national economy, executing citizens and turning Iran into a world center of terror.

Peres noted that victory of Hassan Rouhani proved that Iranians were opposed to radicalism and wanted a more tolerant and pragmatic political course.

Sheli Yakhimovich, leader of the Labor Party of Israel, expressed hope for positive changes and believes that Israel should demonstrate more moderation towards Iran and be prepared for any developments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains skeptical about changes in Iran and assumes that the new president would make no clear steps proving his readiness for a compromise in the nuclear program. Israel, EU and US should not change their attitude towards Iran, the prime minister insists.
