Friends of Syria to give rebels military aid

The member states of the Friends of Syria group have agreed to give the Syrian rebels military aid. The decision was made on Saturday at the group's meeting in Doha, Qatar.

Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani addressed the assembly and said that providing the rebel forces with military aid is the only possible way out of the crisis.

The meeting was attended by US Secretary General John Kerry. He said that the United States will continue to support the rebels. He underlined that the US insisted on a peaceful solution to the conflict, but believed that supporting the rebels would force the parties to start peace talks.
