The German ambassador to Turkey, Eberhard Pohl, met today with Turkish Foreign Ministry Under-secretary Feridun Sinirlioğlu amid tensions between the two countries over Berlin's intention to halt Turkey's integration into the EU, Hürriyet Daily News reports.
During the meeting the Turkish official asked Germany to support Turkey during the EU meeting concerning Turkey's bid scheduled for June 24.
The Turkish official also noted that both Turkish and German foreign ministers had suggested that the accession talks should be speeded up.
