Russian President Dmitry Medvedev addressed Russian citizens on Monday concerning the state of emergency due to the forest fires. “Today I have imposed a state of emergency in several Russian regions that are suffering most from the fires. But much depends on our behaviour. It is hot and airless in the city, everybody wants to go to the countryside. And one has to be very careful there, each match thrown away can lead to a disaster. This is not just a commonplace,” he said, RIA-Novosti reports. He pointed out that the state will help those who have suffered from the fires and also called on all Russians to help everyone who has got into trouble.
