Public council head assassinated in Dagestani village

The chairman of the public council of the Dagestani village of Gubden, Magomet Salamov, was killed when his car was attacked by unknown assailants, ITAR-TASS said, citing the republic's Interior Ministry.

"The assassination was carried out on Monday morning near a rural cemetery. Magomet Salamov was well-known for his anti-terrorist views and activities", a ministry spokesman said.
