Presidential elections in Georgia will be held on October 27

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has set the date for the presidential elections, they will be held on the last Sunday of October, 27 October, the President's press speaker Manana Manjgaladze announced today.

To date, the presidency in Georgia is aspired to by the Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science Georgii Margvelashvili of the "Georgian Dream" coalition, the leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili, as well as the former parliamentary speaker Nino Burjanadze, promoted by the NGO "People's Meeting," the agency News-Georgia reports.

Saakashvili himself, in accordance with the Constitution, no longer has the right to run for the presidency in the upcoming elections, as he has already been elected to the post twice - in January of 2004 and in early elections in January 2008.

The candidate of the pro-presidential "United National Movement" party will be revealed after the results of primaries before the end of July.
