Addictive medicaments temporarily banned in Kabardino-Balkaria

The parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria requested the Russian Healthcare Ministry to put Lyrica and tropicamide on the list of medicaments for accounting. The two types of medicaments have been used as drugs, causing addiction, Interfax-South reports.

 

Salim Janatayev, head of a parliamentary committee of Kabardino-Balkaria, noted that 172 packages with doses of 75mg and 100 packages with doses of 150mg were consumed by medical centers in 2012. Over 8,000 packages with doses of 150 and 300mg were sold by drug stores. Over 50% of opium addicts use Lyrica.
