The second congress of the United Ossetia Party was held in the republic's capital Tskhinvali on July 2. The event was attended by deputy the speaker of the Russian State Duma, Mikhail Krotov, and a member of the State Duma, Andrey Krasov.
The chairman of the United Ossetia Party, Anatoly Bibilov, addressed the attendees of the congress. He stressed the importance of improvement of the quality of life in the republic and noted that Ossetia needs a definite development programme.
Political analyst Alexey Vlasov believes that these remarks reflect serious changes in the Ossetian and Russian authorities' attitude to the social and democratic development of the republic.
