Georgia to help Russia secure Sochi Olympic Games

 

Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan), Transmashdizel (Russia) and General Electric (US) have started construction of a factory to manufacture 300 GEVO engines for locomotives annually. The factory will be launched in December 2014, Reuters reports.

The engines will be used on Evolution locomotives. They will also be exported to Mongolia.

Each company owns 33% of shares worth $100 million.

8% of all train engines will be of national production in 2015. The figure will reach 51% in 2020.

Kazakhstan has formed joint-stock ventures with GE, Alstom (France), Talgo (Spain), Siemens (Germany) to build carriages and trains. Azerbaijani train industry increased from $65 million in 2008 to $1.3 billion in 2013. The company plans to increase the volume of industry to $1.9 billion in 2015.
